Christmas and New Year recycling and refuse in Mid-Formartine, Aberdeenshire

Being that time of year the Council waste services team have sent me the usual seasonal message!

As Christmas and New Year’s Day both fall on a Sunday this year, refuse and recycling collections will be made on their normal days.

All Household Waste Recycling Centres will be closed on Christmas Day and on New Year’s Day. They will be open on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve from 9am to 4pm.

If they miss your refuse collection due to severe weather, you can put up to two bin bags alongside your bin on the next collection day. This is the only time we can accept extra waste.

There is a lot of rubbish this time of year and its hard work – you can help by making sure your bin is facing the right way as well.  Front onto the road – handles at the back.  It will make collecting quicker and everyone will have their uplifts on time !!

If they miss your recycling collection, please take it to a HWRC or recycling point. If this is not convenient, you can put out extra bags with your recycling at the next collection.  There is no limit indicated for the amount of recylates you can put out!

If you do this, please put only one type of material in each bag and keep all glass in the recycling box for safety reasons.  Better still, separate into your own plastic boxes to help them.

You can recycle your Christmas tree at any Household Waste Recycling Centre free of charge.
