Lunar Calendar Year – best wishes

Friends,

I would like to take this opportunity to wish the Chinese communities in the North East of Scotland and around the world a very happy New Year on what is the start of the most important festival in the Chinese Lunar calendar.

2012 is the Year of the Dragon, symbolising enthusiasm vitality, and energy: a spirit exemplified by the enduring contribution of the Chinese community’s businesses amongst us all. All over Scotland, festivals of music, of colour and of cuisine will brighten our towns and cities.

I am always grateful to those in our area who are part of the Scottish Chinese community for their support. I am deeply appreciative of the part they play in Scottish life and in enriching the world we live in.

Let’s bring in the new year of the Dragon with optimism and confidence, knowing that working with our diverse communities we can build a better and brighter future for the next generation.

A Happy and Prosperous New Year in 2012 to all who celebrate today:

Gong Xi Fa Cai! Xin Nian Kuai Le! “
