Muddy ends in Oldmeldrum

Oldmeldrum and Mid Formartine Councillor Paul Johnston Paul Johnston is pressing the Council to try and resolve a quagmire of mud and footpath problems in Oldmeldrum.

“The path that connects Gas Street and Oldmeldrum town centre to dozens of houses in the Coutens area is a mud bath in winter weather.  I have asked Council paths and access officers to investigate the use of some of the funds given by the developer as a contribution to essential facilities in the town , be used to surface and drain the path into the town.”

The development is serviced by a path network which terminates on the developers land leaving a gap between those paths and the surface of Gas street and the roads through the conservation area to the town centre.  The land is part of Aberdeenshire Council’s core path network and Council Johnston has approached officials with a view to the Council carrying out work on the core paths as it has the responsibility for core paths.
