Oldmeldrum centre brought to life with jubilee event.

Local Councillor Paul Johnston has praised the organisers of  a last minute jubilee celebration in the town Square, Oldmeldrum.

The Square played host to live music and stalls with a treasure hunt around the local shops, BBQ and Indian food stall from the Meldrum Arms Hotel.  A good crowd turned out to enjoy the sunshine.

“People commented how good it was to see activity within the square rather than just cars passing through.  I thought it looked great and clearly people were pleased to be there and enjoyed the BBQ, food and stalls.  the kids were enjoying the Fire engine display from our local station”  Said Paul.

“The activity in the Square was a pleasant change and a distinct improvement on the traffic that this town has suffered from for years.  what we need now is the happy balance between economic activity for our shops and a pleasant place for the residents as well.  I’m sure that’s possible if we work together on this.  And today’s activities are a sign that town traders are certainly helping to make Meldrum better.”

Meldrum butcher and BBQ Chef in chief, Gordon Presley was in fine form.
