A leading Aberdeenshire Democratic Independent Councillor has called on developers of housing and Oldmeldrum to complete their development and agree with Aberdeenshire council for maintenance of open space and in particular the large play area built for local residents.
Oldmeldrum and Mid Formartine Councillor Paul Johnston has again expressed concern that the development is not being completed and that a play area, with brand new equipment remains chained shut and overgrown.
” This is a bizarre situation” said Cllr Johnston, ” street lights remain turned off along remote footpaths and a substantial play area and opens space is overgrown and unable to be used by the many children in the new development.”
The Councillor has asked council officials to try to get a face to face meeting between Council legal officers, Councillors and the developer to try to resolve any outstanding matters.
” This has gone on far too long. Many people have lived several years in these houses and have not had a properly completed or serviced development. It is unfair on the people who have purchased homes in our community.” Said Cllr Johnston.
