Willie Law of Oldmeldrum has died aged 94. Councillor Paul Johnston, local Councillor for Oldmeldrum/Mid Formartine said:
“I heard the sad news of Willie’s death. He will be missed by all that knew him. I had known Willie since campaigning to become Oldmeldrum’s Councillor nearly 20 years ago. He has shown with his work for the Oldmeldrum British Legion and the Community Council the kind of civic duty and dedication that he was a great and model citizen. His deep love for the community and people of Oldmeldrum and St Katherines is well known and he will be long remembered.”
“I understand the community Council is considering some tribute and plaque and i think this would be a wonderful idea. The likes of William Law will be an example for generations to come and we should honour his service.”
Willie Law was a founding member of Meldrum Community Council from around 1976 until his death this week. Willie had a long and distinguished record as a member and latterly President of the RBL Oldmeldrum Branch. He was a keen member of the Heritage group and gave long service to community safety in Aberdeenshire.
