Plastics

Paul’s Latest blog post:

“I am a bit of a campaigner against plastic.  I am not against making it in some kind of anti technology way – I appreciate that it is a fantastically valued material.  But not if gets thrown away.

The health of the Oceans is an enduring interest of mine.  Not just the health of fish stocks and overfishing.  I have said plenty of times before that plastic in the oceans is killing marine life and is a risk we cannot take.

I was so pleased  to come across this TEDx presentation recently (from March 2013) at the University of Delft in the Nederlands where a young 19 year old environmentalist called Boyan Slat inspired an audience of scientists and policy makers with a vision of cleaning up the plastic toxic waste from the world’s largest ocean, the Pacific.

Its well worth taking 12 minutes out of your day to watch”
