Councillor to meet with Post Office and Spar over changes
Aberdeenshire Councillor Paul Johnston is to travel to Dundee to meet with Spar and Post Office Counters Limited following proposed changes at Tarves Post office. Post Office Counters Limited have issued a series of contradictory statements regarding the changes telling customers the counter was not being moved when SPAR operator CJ Lang told the local Councillor this was ” a fait accompli” and that changes will go ahead regardless. Following a correction – the Post office again sent out emails suggesting no decision had been made, contradicting the letter sent the day before.
The meeting in Dundee at CJ Lang Head Office is to clarify changes and to put local concerns directly to the Post Office Counters and CJ Lang senior management.
” From the beginning when they got the name of the village wrong and now to miss inform the public, this has been a right mess. I sought this meeting on behalf of the community to put concerns directly to those concerned and to get to the heart of the issue.” Said Councillor Paul Johnston.
“I will report back to the community following the meeting but I am aware of the level of disbelief people locally have for this engagement for consultation exercise by the post office and CJ Lang”
The meeting is to take place Friday 4th April.
The letter to Councillor Johnston – sent without the information
The information sent to the public – indicating the Counter was NOT moving
Apologies from Post office and confirmation plans were going ahead and a changed public response.
Further Post office reply to the Community Council changing this and saying decision not made and plans not decided.
