Councillor Martin Kitts-Hayes and Sheena Lonchay have both resigned from the Liberal Democrats plunging Aberdeenshire’s Liberal Democrats into crisis with a knock on effect within the political make up of Aberdeenshire Council.
Councillor Kitts-Hayes resigned on the eve of a key CoSLA meeting where he paradoxically is the leader of Scotland’s Lib Dem Councillors. This leaves, Aberdeenshire Council Lib Dems leaderless as well as all Scotland’s Lib Dem Councillors.
Councillor Paul Johnston, a former member of the Liberal Democrats in Aberdeenshire until the Trump affair commented: ” This is business as usual amongst a dysfunctional element in the group”
“The Liberal Democrats should have suspended this group a long time back and sorted their internal strife. Instead they have opted for internecine warfare and decline”
