A Stonehaven fish and chip shop ranked among the best in Britain, is in line for a prestigious sustainable business award.
Leading Aberdeenshire Councillor, Paul Johnston welcomed the news and will be cheering on The Bay Fish & Chips owner Callum Richardson of Stonehaven who is up against illustrious competitors, HRH The Prince of Wales, Matt Damon and comedian Russell Brand for the 2degrees Champions Awards Personality of the Year.
” Besides some of the tastiest fish and chips available, Calum has a focus on sustainability and that works well with the leading north east fishing industry who are demonstrating that fisheries around Scotland’s coasts can be productive and sustainable for the future.”
Councillor Johnston, a member of the Council’s Fisheries Working Group and the North East Scotland Fisheries Development Partnership said that The Bay & Chips is a demonstration that the whole of the food supply chain from capture to consumer can be sustainable.
” I think Callum should win because he has demonstrated practically that you can be ethical sustainable and profitable. He is demonstrating the way forward for food businesses in Aberdeenshire, Scotland and beyond.” Said Councillor Johnston.
