Future of Elected Members in Scotland

The link below is to a document published by the Association For Public Service Excellence (APSE) which involves a survey of Scottish Councillors and their current attitudes to the role. If local authority Councillors, themselves, failed to engage with the internal roles of being a Councillor, then there is little chance the public will find engagement easy.

In the summary of this report, it indicates that those Councillors in leadership (executive) roles are more content.  However, there appears to be a significant portion of Councillors reporting that councils are not engaging them in their role as community leaders.

APSE rightly identifies the need for action.
