Social Enterprise Scotland – Evidence to the Scottish Parliament – Jan 2016

This is an interesting recorded session in front of the Economy, Energy and Tourism Committee at the Scottish Parliament: 27th January 201. it ranges far and wide over the social enterprise sector and will give a broad view.  There is much to debate in this.  There is, in my own view, a little misunderstanding amongst the politicians, but there are some good points too.  Unrealistic expectations and some possible underlying assumptions of social care / charitable sector merged in.

You will, for example, get the message that I have used to both the Scottish Government, officials , Councils and Council officials.

  • Procurement and social impact and community benefit.
  • Short term contracts, still too many are 1 year contracts or year by year SLAs
  • Tendering only for large contracts rather than frameworks.
